My research focuses on the physical and psychological wellbeing of mothers during pregnancy and postpartum, and parenthood transitions in both mothers and fathers. Specifically, my research considers how pregnant women with gestational hypertension cope with their pregnancy and whether it affects wellbeing up to 6 months postpartum. Positive coping mechanisms during pregnancy are said to influence postpartum wellbeing. For the first time in this demographic, our study will be gathering lived-experiences of fathers/spouses during pregnancy and postpartum to understand parenthood transitions and individual meaning-making process by expectant and new-born parents.
