IDoService project: using a co-design approach to facilitate participation in meaningful activities for people living with mild dementia

Isabelle Tournier (Manchester Metropolitan University)

The 2-year IDoService project relies on co-production and co-design approaches to develop a service model aiming to facilitate the socio-cultural participation and empowerment of people living with mild dementia. Previous investigations highlighted that social contact, feelings of being useful, giving meaning to life and enjoyment of activities are amongst the most frequently unmet needs for people living with dementia. The IDoService addresses unmet needs regarding involvement in meaningful activities in Greater Manchester. The proof-of-concept generated by this interdisciplinary and co-designed project will inform the realisation of the service and of local and national policies regarding dementia-friendly communities in the UK.

IDoService has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 895620 (2020-2022).
