I grew up on the small Mediterranean island of Malta within a Catholic and heteronormative social context, an upbringing that has significantly shaped my sensitivity to questions of gender, sexuality, and identity. My research interests are grounded in social psychology and focus on the intersections of gender, sexuality, queerness, and lived social realities, particularly how identities are constructed, negotiated, and constrained within broader cultural and institutional frameworks.

I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Malta, followed by an MSc in Equality and Human Rights at the University of Glasgow. Since 2024, I have been a PhD candidate within the Department of Psychology at Heriot-Watt University.

My work has been presented at the British Psychological Society’s Male Psychology Section Annual Conference (2024), and I have published a book chapter titled “Men’s experiences of having friendships with gay men” in Mapping the Rainbow: Researching the Diverse Colours of the LGBTIQ Community – Volume II. My research on male rape and the systemic underfunding and resourcing of organisations supporting male survivors is forthcoming in Astarte: Mediterranean Journal on Gender and Sexualities (November 2026), a newly founded journal at the University of Malta.

I have also been the recipient of the Endeavour Scholarship Scheme (7th Call, 2021) and Erasmus+ funding, which supported a scholarly  internship in London in 2019.
