My research focuses on autistic young people’s mental health as they transition from primary to secondary school. I am particularly interested in understanding why autistic people are found to be more likely to have anxiety or depression, and whether the experience of transitioning to secondary school might play a role in the development or aggravation of mental ill-health. Understanding this will allow us to identify avenues to support these young people and improve their quality of life.
